Fun Visitors and such...

Once upon a time, my brother in law was going to be deployed (he's an Engineering Officer in the Air Force) over Thanksgiving and Christmas, so we planned this great escape for my sister and her boys to join us for Thanksgiving. Because that would be way too much fun to miss out on, my other sis. asked to come to- and for her bday present- she got a ticket.

Well- lucky for them (annnd us because we got to spend Christmas with EVERYONE), his deployment was cancelled and said sister did not end up coming for Thanksgiving. And soo... younger sis did not end up coming either. And then she got a mission call and life got CRAZY for her. We were able to see her (and my brother who is also leaving on a mission VERY soon!) at Christmas and said what we thought was our goodbyes for awhile.

But--- She still got her trip! At the end of February my sister Melanie got to come visit us! Here are some of the things we did with her:

The closest airport is in Kansas City, Missouri-- which is a hop away from Independence and Liberty, which are pretty great as far as LDS Church History goes- so we made a couple of stops.

The inside of the crazy looking part of the Community of Christ Church's temple (previously known as the RLDS church)
Their Chapel/Worship room (don't worry, you are encouraged to take photos- no rule breaking here!)
Then we went to the Independence LDS Visitor Center right across the street- Melanie said, "This feels better". And it was delightful. Sorry no photos.

Next up was Historic Liberty Jail

Outside of the reconstructed jail that housed the Prophet Joseph Smith and some other church leaders

Pre-missionary glow

We made it home... to play with Aunt Melanie Just in time for...

A Missouri blizzard.

So we hung out inside and did tummy time, watched movies, played games, did crafts...

And played with DADDY of course!

Our Easter Craft! Who knew Melanie didn't like touching paper mache..

This is how Melanie felt about touching the yarn

They turned out quite cute- little yarn eggs

A family MUST- Mario Bros on the Wii

Next up was Nauvoo for temple sessions- Adalyn got to play in the arrival center while Mommy & Aunt Melanie went inside and then she played with mommy while Daddy went and did a session. As always- we LOVE that our temple is NAUVOO. We feel very BLESSED!

More Mario

On the day Mel had to leave we went down a little early so we could get some temple time in at the Kansas City Temple. It was wonderful! We thoroughly enjoyed our time inside the temple!

Just because she's so cute.

I made Mel get a final picture with me before she went through security- we got that we looked  alike A LOT this trip.

Quick nap in the car to rejuvinate

And then she was off. I'll hopefully see her again when she gets home end of August beginning of September of 2014!!!

Love you Mel and so glad you came to spend some time with us before this next chapter of your life!!!! Next stop- Argentina~!
